In one of the nicest
baroque houses of Vienna, located in Lange Gasse 34, you can find
„Alte Backstube“ Restaurant.
The house was built in 1697, using remainders of a construction dating from
de Late Middle Ages, where a bakery was established. In 1963 the bakery
closed; the demolition of the building was avoided since the house became
an old viennese restaurant. The original baking oven, the baker´s trade
utensils and many pictures were preserved through three centuries.
Nowadays, they are still exhibited in the Museum integrated into the
restaurant.
In this marvellous
atmosphere you can enjoy by candlelight the delicious and original Viennese
cuisine (prepared according to traditional receipts), fine wines and
excellent beer.
